Job Description

Our client is a leading manufacturer of aerospace components and tooling. They are looking for a Quality Engineer for their high volume/high quality machined and molded parts. This is a newly created role reporting directly to the VP of Product Development to respond to their phenomenal growth while maintaining quality. This position entails performing detailed product quality checks for incoming, in-process, and completed components/assemblies and will be ultimately responsible for broad oversight of all things quality, ensuring robust and quality systems are established, monitored, and effective.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years in a quality position in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient ability and extensive experience interpreting technical and engineer drawings/prints with “fluency” in GD&T
  • Proficient ability with basic metrology equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gage/dial indicator) and knowledge of electronic equipment (ex. optical comparator, measuring arm, CMM) including calibrating add-ons and programming
  • Experience inspecting parts manufactured and received
  • Experience inspecting raw materials and finished assemblies for conformance and taking ownership of their acceptance or rejection
  • Experience in gauge design and inspection methodologies (both manual and automated)
  • Ability to read and create detailed quality inspection reports, material certifications, and supporting documentation
  • Knowledge of metalworking, machining, and molding processes
  • Knowledge, ability, and experience (preferred) to stand up a quality system and (eventual) department, including developing, implementing, and maintaining quality procedures and policies
  • Ability to effectively read, concisely write, and verbally communicate in English
  • Bilingual: English+Spanish (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Organize, summarize, and prioritize a concise vision with clear expectations and goals of the company’s quality functions in 30, 60, and 90 day initiatives
  • Create and implement quality plans with measurable and monitorable metrics
  • Identify, analyze, and solve quality issues, ensuring even the most technically and politically complex are resolved in a professional, timely manner
  • Monitor team and individual performance, taking corrective or coaching steps when necessary
  • Utilize lean tools and leading kaizen events to drive process improvements that gain quality throughput
